India's highs and lows in Australia

Ishant Sharma knows what it is like to record a Test victory in Australia but the vast majority of India's squad have never experienced it.

INDIA'S PREVIOUS THREE TEST WINS IN AUSTRALIA

* 2008, WACA (72 runs): Discontent and disillusionment, stemming from players feeling let down by their own cricket board's refusal to back Andrew Symonds in 'monkeygate', clouded the home side's bid for a record 17th consecutive Test win. Ishant Sharma, then 19 years old, hit the 150 km/h mark and troubled Ricky Ponting with a spell of beautiful fast bowling.

* 2003, Adelaide Oval (four wickets): The visitors took a 1-0 series lead in stunning fashion, bouncing off the ropes after Ponting's knock of 242 piloted his side to an imposing total of 556. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman's 303-run partnership shifted momentum and then Ajit Agarkar grabbed 6-41, leaving India with a target of 230 to chase.

* 1981, MCG (59 runs): Allan Border's 124 helped Australia claim a first-innings lead of 182 runs but India wrestled back control. The hosts were rolled for 83 in the final innings of the match, folding in pursuit of a target of 143. Allrounder Kapil Dev snared 5-28, cleaning up the tail in clinical fashion.
