The all-girl student body were given the opportunity to escape their remote inland communities and spend the day learning to sail on Port Phillips Bay.
For many girls it was their first yachting experience, but instructor Lee Thorpe guided the girls through the basics.
“The girls got their skills up, changing the jib from either side, they had a shot at steering and they went really well,” said Mr Thorpe.
The day formed part of the school's physical education program which encourages healthy eating, lifestyle and activities.
Physical education teacher Meagan Nash says the girls approached the activity with reluctance but finished the day full of confidence.
“They loved it, it's funny, on the way here there's a lot of ‘I don't want to get wet, I don't want to get in the water,’ but they get the life jacket on and get in the boat and it's the best experience ever,” said Ms Nash.
