A memorial for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service men and women is to be erected in Sydney's Hyde Park.
The memorial was approved by the City of Sydney Council.
The council says Indigenous Australians have had a long history in Australia's military forces, dating back to the Boer War.
Pastor Ray Minniecon is the co-founder of The Coloured Diggers group which has been pushing for the memorial for a number of years.
He told Peggy Giakoumelos it's important that indigenous service men and women are recognised.
