Prime Minister Tony Abbott says Indonesia's plans to cut imports of Australian cattle is a one-off.

Mr Abbott says while it's disappointing the country has cut back its cattle intake by 80 per cent this quarter, Australian beef producers can expect an up-tick soon.

"This is a one-off reduction, it's not an ongoing reduction," he told Macquarie Radio on Wednesday.
