Bali police are conducting an internal affairs investigation into claims their officers threatened a group of Australian men with charges if they didn't cough up about $25,000 in bribes.
Reports in June said the 16 men were on the last night of a five-night bucks celebration in Seminyak when security broke up their party with a stripper in a private room of an upscale restaurant.
The Melbourne men claimed a violent fight broke out in which they were pistol-whipped and tasered.
Bali Provincial Police spokesman Herry Wiyanto says Indonesian embassy officials in Australia asked police to clarify reports two of the men were escorted to ATMs to withdraw the cash, or else face 10 years' jail for indecency.
The probe began earlier this month but investigators still haven't established which officers were on duty.
"Several policemen have been questioned, about 10 of them," he said.
"We will find out who's guilty. Let internal affairs do its work.
"If there's a violation, we certainly will press ahead with it, whether in the ethical code or by legal process."
The incident came to light as Australia's relationship with Indonesia was under strain over the executions of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.
