Indonesia cattle quota cut 'retaliation' for Bali Nine: Katter

Bob Katter says the government has gone out of its way to kick Indonesia and that's why they have reduced imports of Australian cattle.

Queensland independent Bob Katter says Indonesia cut its quota for import of Australian live cattle in retaliation for criticism over the execution of drug traffickers Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

Mr Katter said Indonesia's decision to reduce the quota to just 50,000 head of cattle in the next quarter would be disastrous for producers in his north Queensland electorate.

He said it was expected Indonesia would take 500,000-600,000 Australian cattle but that was now likely to be 200,000 less over the next year.
Mr Katter told ABC television Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop had attacked a neighbouring government, criticising their laws and defending two drug traffickers, insulting the Indonesian people "provoking, confronting and speaking in a most arrogant manner".

He said Mr Abbott had gone out of his way to kick Indonesia at every opportunity and his performance and that of Ms Bishop had been disgraceful.
"It has been no better and probably worse than (former prime minister) Julia Gillard's if that's humanly possible," he said.
