Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has denied reports that Indonesia is considering a boycott of Australian beef exports.
Indonesian media claims the Indonesian government has asked cattle importers to temporarily stop buying livestock from Australia while bilateral ties remain on rocky territory.
The Indonesian government temporarily suspended all military co-operation with Australia after it emerged that Australian spies targeted the phones of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, his wife and some of his closest confidants in 2009.
Ms Bishop said she spoke with her Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa last week and he assured her trade would not be an area affected by the spying allegations.
"The areas that were to continue as normal included trade," she told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.
