NSW fear Greg Inglis could bury their State of Origin dreams at a Suncorp Stadium graveyard on Wednesday, with Blues forward James Tamou saying the Maroons' superstar's move to fullback is a 'scary' proposition for the Origin champions.
Inglis was quiet in game one, but came roaring back to form with a blistering effort in game two. He assumes Billy Slater's Maroons No.1 jersey for the Origin decider, after the Melbourne star's season ending shoulder surgery, in a positional shift from centre that shapes as a game changer.
"It is actually scary with GI going to fullback," Tamou said.
"Because with every kick he takes we have to tackle him, but we have to make sure we get down there in numbers and do a job on him."
Inglis's sublime work at fullback help to spearhead South Sydney to end their five-decade long premiership drought last year. The Blues are aware that Inglis' efforts could end their attempts at back-to-back series wins for the first time since 2005.
Boyd Cordner will form part of that Blues' kick-chase team charged with reigning Inglis in.
"It looks a bit different with Greg Inglis being back there," he said.
"It means he gets his hands on the ball a bit more which makes him more dangerous.
"But we are looking forward to the challenge and we are going to have to get that part of our game spot on because we know what GI can do to teams if they clock off for a bit."
