Greg Inglis is set to sit out South Sydney's final round NRL clash with arch-rivals Sydney Roosters as his recovery from knee surgery continues.
Inglis underwent minor surgery on his knee early last week and missed the Rabbitohs' last-start loss to Brisbane. The superstar fullback is yet to train fully with the Rabbitohs and is still experiencing soreness in the troublesome joint.
Coach Michael Maguire will make a decision on Inglis' fitness later in the week.
But Souths prop George Burgess conceded on Tuesday that Inglis probably won't be right to face the Roosters.
"I'm not too sure (if he is going to play) I have seen him around training and he is got a bit of a sore knee so it might be a bit of a push for this week. We will see," Burgess said on Tuesday.
"He is the best player in the world, to have him in your teams is always going to be an advantage but we have players in place to fill spots and we have every faith in those players they can come in and do a job."
If Inglis doesn't take the field against the Tricolours, he will almost certainly return for the Rabbitohs in the opening week of the finals, next week.
Alex Johnston was named at fullback in place of Inglis to play against the Broncos, but Dylan Walker slotted into the custodian role on game day in a lacklustre performance. That may be an experiment Maguire won't repeat against the Roosters.
Despite their big loss to the Broncos, Burgess said confidence remained high at Redfern.
"You have to go back to the drawing board, keep the faith and be excited about what lies ahead of us," Burgess said.
"We just have to enjoy what we do, we have the best job in the world. We are looking forward to getting out there on Friday, it is a challenge but we are excited about that.
"Just trying to find consistency is the thing for us. I feel like everyone is feeling good at the minute and feeling excited and ready for the challenge ahead. We are up for it."
