Injured hooker Harris staying with Chiefs

All Blacks hooker Nathan Harris celebrates his return to the rugby field with confirmation he has re-signed with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are showing loyalty to unlucky hooker Nathan Harris, signing the two-Test All Black for a further two Super Rugby seasons.

Harris suffered a serious ankle injury early in his first Test start against the United States in Chicago last November and hasn't played since.

The 23-year-old was to return to the field for Bay of Plenty in an NPC pre-season game against Manawatu in Tauranga on Thursday.

The comeback coincides with the Chiefs announcement, which Harris says left him humbled.

"The Chiefs is a fantastic environment and they were extremely supportive last season," he said.

"I have spent the best part of nine months rehabilitating so I am amped and ready to get stuck in."

Harris made his Chiefs debut last year, playing 12 games and earning selection for the All Blacks.
