West Indian drawcard Kieron Pollard has been ruled out of the Big Bash League (BBL) this summer because of injury.

Pollard was to have featured for the Adelaide Strikers in the Twenty20 competition but suffered a knee injury this week.

The short-form specialist hurt a knee when fielding for the Cape Cobras in South Africa's T20 competition, with the Strikers seeking another imported player to fill their roster.

The Strikers say the extent of Pollard's injury won't be known until he has further scans, but he's no chance of playing in the BBL.
