Four people are being airlifted from Sydney's Figure Eight Pools after a large wave hit the rock ledge in the Royal National Park.
Several people have suffered lacerations with a rescue operation underway on Sunday evening at the popular swimming spot.
Two people were winched to waiting ambulances at Garie Beach, while two others were taken to Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club where they will be airlifted to Garie Beach.
It's the second incident in two weeks that has left hikers and swimmers injured, Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter CEO Stephen Leahy says.
"These large waves can hit a rock ledge without any warning and they are dangerous," he said.
The pools, popularised by social media posts, have attracted even bigger crowds since a large wave reportedly injured more than 100 people two weeks ago, Mr Leahy said.
