Injury sidelines Green out of Super League

Australian Super League player Blake Green has been sidelined for up to three months after he tore his bicep during Wigan's win over Leeds.

Wigan have confirmed that stand-off Blake Green will be sidelined for up to three months after scans revealed he tore his bicep during their 18-14 win over Leeds at the Magic Weekend.

The Australian, who is out of contract this year, went off 16 minutes from the end of Saturday's game at the Etihad Stadium clutching his arm, and will see a specialist.

"He's torn his bicep. It's a two to three-month injury, though obviously we'll have a better idea down the track. It's a blow for Blake and for us, but we'll deal with it," coach Shaun Wane said.

Green, who was man of the match in Wigan's Grand-Final win over Warrington last October, will miss his club's Tetley's Challenge Cup quarter-final against Castleford next month but will hope to be back for the semi-finals in August if the holders progress.

Wane is set to play the versatile Sam Powell at stand-off in Thursday's First Utility Super League match against Salford at the AJ Bell Stadium.
