Innovation money through savings: Morrison

Treasurer Scott Morrison said the $1 billion set aside for the innovation statement will be found through budget savings.

The $1 billion earmarked for the the Turnbull government's innovation statement will be found through savings, Treasurer Scott Morrison says.

"We have had to go and find it ... just like we have to accommodate all those other measures," said Mr Morrison, who is expected to hand down his mid-year budget review next week.

The treasurer told Sydney 2GB radio that since the May budget, the government has reversed Labor's bank deposit tax at a cost of over a $1 billion, raised road spending by $1 billion and increased the refugee intake at a cost of $600-700 million.
