Inquiry into energy storage after SA storm

A Senate inquiry will investigate how to store energy to avoid another blackout like the one seen in South Australia.

A Senate committee will investigate energy storage technology to avoid another blackout like the one that hit South Australia.

The inquiry, proposed by the Greens and agreed to by the Senate on Wednesday, will look at how to make Australia's electricity networks resilient to withstand extreme weather events.

"The relentless march of dangerous global warming means that these sorts of extreme weather events will only become more common in the future," Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.
