SBS Insight presenter Jenny Brockie has received a Walkley Award for Best Interview in the Insight episode 'Young Mob'.

In the episode, Insight headed to Alice Springs for a rare chance to hear directly from Aboriginal teenagers about their lives, dreams, frustrations and everything in between.

This is Brockie's fourth Walkley Award, her previous wins include the 1992 Gold Walkley for her documentary Cop It Sweet.

The judges commended the empathy and humour employed by Jenny and the Insight team when putting together the episode.

"Jenny Brockie’s interviews with young Aboriginal residents of Alice Springs, woven together into an hour of television, gave viewers a sometimes moving, sometimes startling insight into their difficult lives. The judges admired the care with which the Insight team had approached the project, and the mixture of humour, empathy and plain speaking that Brockie brought to her questions."

SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid said the win was well deserved.

"Jenny and the Insight team consistently deliver ground-breaking television, taking on the most challenging subjects and pushing the boundaries – with Jenny always achieving the right balance and sensitivity," he said.

"We pride ourselves on continuing to deliver such powerful, high-quality news and current affairs with relevance to all Australians. It is fantastic to see Jenny’s outstanding work recognised by her peers. Well done to Executive Producer Angus Llewellyn, and producers Ross Scheepers, Meggie Palmer and Hannah Meagher."

Other SBS finalists included Patrick Abboud and Daniel Holohan from SBS 2’s The Feed, for 'Tagging the Taliban', Dateline's Aaron Lewis for The Greatest Gathering, Manpreet Kaur Singh from SBS’s Punjabi radio program, and Sacha Payne of SBS World News Australia Radio for their story 'The Enemy Within' and Tanya Denning and the NITV team, nominated in two categories – All Media Coverage of Indigenous Affairs and All Media Social Equity Journalism – for 'Wave Rock' (NITV News), 'Cape York' (Awaken), and 'Who should tell Indigenous stories?'.

The SBS-commissioned documentary series Persons of Interest was also a finalist in the Documentary category.
