Job prospects appear to be improving, particularly for community workers.

New government figures show there was a strong pick-up in demand for both community and personal service workers through internet job advertisements in June, rising 6.6 per cent compared to a month earlier.

Overall, jobs ads on the internet rose 1.5 per cent in June to be 15.2 per cent higher than a year earlier, in seasonally adjusted terms.

Department of Employment data released on Wednesday showed that six out of the eight occupational groups it monitors rose in June.

In trend terms, and following revisions to its May estimates, vacancies have now risen for 10 consecutive months since the all-time low in August 2013.

They now stand at their highest level since December 2012, the department said.

The strongest demand for workers over the past year has been in NSW, up 23.8 per cent, followed by Victoria where job ads rose 15.1 per cent.
