A further fall in internet job advertisements has raised questions about whether recent jobs growth can be sustained.

The Department of Employment's vacancy report shows job vacancies fell a further one per cent in December in trend terms, the third monthly decline after modest growth over much of 2014.

The latest decline was largely the result of a 2.9 per cent drop in ads in Western Australia.

The department said additional months of data will be required to determine whether the recent decline is indicative of a sustained turning point in the series.

Six out of the eight occupational groups monitored by the department declined in December with only labourers (up 0.3 per cent) and community and personal service workers (up 0.8 per cent) showing growing demand.
