Internet reacts to 'Fanning: Shark Slayer'

The Jeffreys Bay shark has taken to twitter to set the record straight on Sunday's attack, while the internet celebrates Fanning through viral memes.

The shark that attacked pro surfer Mick Fanning at Jeffreys Bay in South Africa has prompted its own Twitter account offering an explanation.

"Hey @Mick_Fanning, was just trying to get an autograph. Didn't mean to frighten you mate," @JBayshark admitted.

"Thought it was @Kellyslater, tbh."

The J-Bay shark later apologised to Fanning saying he "just wanted a taste" and appealed to animal welfare group PETA for advice on finding a good shark lawyer.

Meanwhile, in true internet style, Fanning fans have taken to immortalising the surfer's shark attack escape through viral memes.

Photoshopped images of Fanning wrestling, boxing and even surfing on top of the shark are popping up all over social media with some even likening him to internet hero and strongman Chuck Norris.
