Investigations into footy scuffle continue

NSW Police say footage will be reviewed and people interviewed before any charges are laid against spectators who clashed with cops at a rugby league game.

Footage captured on body cameras worn by officers will be reviewed as police investigate a scuffle at a Sydney rugby league elimination final.

Punches were thrown when police confronted the rowdy spectators just before half time in the Roosters and Bulldogs match but no officers were injured, Superintendent Gavin Dengate told reporters on Saturday.

No charges have been laid.

In mobile phone footage of the fight taken by another member of the crowd, a man can been seen lunging at several officers during the two-minute scuffle.

Security were first called to deal with the group over complaints of swearing, which upset other fans before police went to assist.

Police have the details of those involved in the incident but the security guards will be interviewed and footage reviewed before any are formally spoken to, Supt Dengate said.

It's unclear what sparked the fracas when Bulldogs fans tussled with police and Supt Dengate criticised those involved for their anti-social behaviour.

"(It's) unfortunately all too common at all sporting venues," he said.
