Investigator to look into Lawler's leave

An independent investigator is being appointed by the federal government to look into the behaviour of Fair Work Commission vice-president Michael Lawler.

An independent investigator will look into the behaviour of a senior member of the Fair Work Commission.

Concerns have been raised about Michael Lawler after the commission vice-president took months of sick leave while his partner, disgraced Health Services Union official Kathy Jackson, fought allegations of misappropriating funds.

Employment Minister Michaelia Cash on Monday announced the appointment of an investigator, saying it was essential public confidence in the commission is maintained.
