Iron ore miner weighs up govt fund bid

BBI Group, which is developing a $6 billion iron ore mine in Western Australia, has had initial talks with a government facility on rail funding.

A West Australian iron ore developer has had preliminary talks on seeking federal funding for a rail link.

BBI Group and China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited are developing a $6 billion Pilbara mine, rail line and port.

AAP understands BBI Group has held some preliminary, investigative discussions with the $5 billion Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, but no formal application has been made.
