Islamic State's plans to expand its presence in Indonesia puts the terror threat on Australia's doorstep, Attorney-General George Brandis warns.

Days after Indonesian police foiled a terror plot to bomb several targets, Senator Brandis says Indonesia has "no doubt" become a location for IS ambitions.

"ISIS has ambitions to elevate its presence and level of activity in Indonesia, either directly or through surrogates," Senator Brandis told The Australian on Tuesday.
