Italy's Rio boss' brother fails drug test

It could get a little awkward around the family dinner table in Italy after the brother of the head of the country's Olympic team tested positive to drugs.

The brother of the boss of Italy's team for the upcoming Rio Olympic Games has tested positive to a performance-enhancing drug.

Niccolo Mornati, a five-time rowing world championship medallist, tested positive for the forbidden substance anastrozole at an out-of-competition test on April 7 and is provisionally suspended.

Anastrozole is said to reduce the side-effects of steroid use.

Mornati, 35, has three silvers and two bronze medals from world championship races, and two silvers from European championships.

His brother Carlo Mornati is a former rower, the vice-general secretary of the Italian Olympic Committee and has been named chef de mission of the Italian Olympic team for the Rio Games.
