I've got all Tedesco's money: McCrone

Canberra finally have a signature on paper, with playmaker Josh McCrone committing to stay with the battling NRL club for the next two seasons.

Raiders playmaker Josh McCrone isn't fazed about his NRL club's stuttering recruitment drive, joking that James Tedesco's loss is his gain.

The battling Raiders on Monday announced that McCrone had re-signed with the club for the next two seasons.

It will come as welcome relief for the Canberra team which, despite their "aggressive" recruitment drive under new coach Ricky Stuart, have been publicly rejected by Tedesco, Josh Mansour and Kevin Proctor in recent weeks.

McCrone said he'd been joking to teammates that the club could finally afford him after the Tedesco and Proctor backflips.

"I've got all Proctor and Tedesco's money. It's gone straight to me. They just crossed out the name at the top," he laughed.

Jokes aside, McCrone, 27, said he'd re-signed with the Raiders because he believed in the new culture they were building.

While the club is club currently sitting third last on the ladder, he's confident they can turn things around if they keep working hard.

"A number of great players have re-signed so far this year and I believe we have a team who can improve and become a finals contender," he said.

The former Country Origin representative has played 118 games for the Raiders and chief executive Don Furner welcomed his retention.

"Josh has played over 100 NRL matches for the Raiders and is one of the team's most consistent performers," he said.

"He can play in the halves or at hooker and we see his role as an important one for the Raiders over the next two seasons."
