Jack Vidgen has brain tumour removed

The 2011 winner of Australia's Got Talent, Jack Vidgen, is recovering at home after undergoing surgery to remove a benign tumour from his brain.

Australian singer Jack Vidgen has undergone an operation to remove a tumour from behind his eye.

The 17 year old, who shot to fame Down Under after winning Australia's Got Talent in 2011, underwent surgery last Wednesday.

Surgeons decided to remove the benign mass after discovering it during a scan earlier in the month.

Vidgen told his fans of his health scare via Facebook.

"I have been trying to decide whether to go public with this. But you guys have been a big part of the last 3 years of my life so here it is.

"First off I had to have an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging scan) on Monday - it showed there was a mass lesion (tumour) behind my eye. I then saw an ocular plastic surgeon who said it had to come out urgently."

He is now recovering at home in Sydney.
