Jackson wins Korean World Cup triathlon

Australia' Emma Jackson successfully defends her Korean triathlon title to wrap up the ITU World Cup year.

Emma Jackson closed triathlon's World Cup season with a win, defending her event title in South Korea on Saturday as South African Henri Schoeman won the men's race.

Jackson battled with Japan's Ai Ueda and Maaike Caelers from the Netherlands on the run and the Australian couldn't break clear until well into the finishing chute.

Jackson was in 23rd position exiting the transition from the bike.

"I did try to attack a couple of times, but they stayed with me and Ai Ueda attacked up the last hill and I just tried to stay as close to her as possible and sprint past her towards the end," Jackson said. Caelers was second and Ueda took bronze, her second medal in a row after winning the Alanya World Cup last month.

South Africa's Schoeman won his first race, beating Americans Ben Kanute and Tommy Zaferes who enjoyed their first podiums.
