Jamil Hopoate stood down by Manly

Manly have stood down young back-rower Jamil Hopoate following his alleged king hit on a man outside a pub on Saturday night.

Manly have stood down rising star Jamil Hopoate following an alleged king hit on a man outside a pub on Sydney's northern beaches on Saturday.

Manly released a short statement on Tuesday confirming Hopoate will front the club's disciplinary committee next week.

The statement said the NRL's Integrity Unit were aware of their decision and will continue to monitor the situation.

Hopoate was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and one count of affray.

The son of former NRL star John Hopoate and brother of Parramatta's star recruit Will, Jamil has a chequered past before even featuring in first grade.

The 19-year-old is considered a promising backrow prospect but was sacked by the Eels, who were unimpressed with his off-field behaviour after he defied instructions not to leave the NRL's official rookies camp - designed to educate the game's young stars on their responsibilities.

He has also previously had his driver's licence suspended for six months for mid-range drink-driving.
