Japanese visit strengthens economic ties

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says Australia's relationship with Japan is better than ever, following the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says Australia's relationship with Japan is better than ever, following the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

During Mr Abe's three-day visit to Australia, the two countries signed agreements on economic partnership and defence co-operation.

Following a visit to the joint Australian-Japanese iron mine in the Pilbara region in Western Australia yesterday the two leaders attended a formal dinner to farewell Mr Abe.

SBS journalist, Ryan Emery was at the dinner and he spoke with Zara Zaher.
