Japan's Niseko resort goes Epic

Australians can now ski at Japan's Niseko resort, as well as in Colorado, Utah and Tahoe in the United States, under Vail Resorts season pass.

US company Vail Resorts has announced a partnership with the Japanese ski town of Niseko, one of the most celebrated powder skiing resorts in the world.

The company's Epic Pass, which provides holders with unlimited and unrestricted skiing in Colorado, Utah, and Tahoe, now includes five complimentary consecutive days for Australians at Niseko for the 2014-2015 winter season.

"We're excited to announce a partnership between Vail Resorts and Niseko, Japan, providing access to a part of the world that is legendary for its endless powder, overall incredible guest experience and ease of access for Australians; some of our most loyal pass holders," Kirsten Lynch, executive vice president of Vail Resorts, said in a statement.

"Epic Pass holders now have access to the epic skiing and riding for which Japan is world-renowned."

The resort, which averages 15 metres of snow a year, was crowned by Forbes magazine in 2008 as one of the top 10 international ski resorts.

Niseko Annupuri is located about 100km south of Japan's fifth largest city, Sapporo, in the southwest corner of the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

A non-stop flight service is available between all major Australian cities and Tokyo, with connecting flights onwards to Sapporo.

The Epic Pass will be available for purchase on March 10.
