A week after scoring a double against Wellington, winger Craig Goodwin has agreed to a two-year contract extension with A-League club Newcastle.
The deal, confirmed on Monday, will keep Goodwin at the Jets until the end of the 2015/2016 season.
The 22-year-old has scored five goals in 39 appearances since joining the NSW outfit from Melbourne Heart in 2012.
Despite struggling for regular game time in the early parts of the season, Goodwin has started in each of Newcastle's past seven matches.
He said he is very happy at the Jets and is looking forward to helping the team's development.
"As well as the supporters, the selling point was definitely the group of boys that we have here and the squad that we're building," Goodwin said.
"Going forward, it will be good for all of us to continue playing together and I think you'll start to really see us grow as players and as a team as we get more and more experience.
"I think the coming years should be pretty bright for the club, so it's good to have my future set here and I'm very excited about what lies ahead."
Chief executive Robbie Middleby said the Jets had been in discussion with Goodwin for some time and is pleased to have finalised a deal.
"We see Craig as a talented young player with a lot of potential and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop over the next couple of years," Middleby said.
