Jillaroos gearing up for first PNG Test

Six uncapped Jillaroos will head into camp on the Gold Coast ahead of Australia's first women's rugby league Test against Papua New Guinea later this month.

Six players are a chance of making their Jillaroos debut when Australia line up for their first women's rugby league Test against Papua New Guinea.

As part of Australia's preparations for the World Cup later this year, the uncapped Maddison Bennett, Talesha Quinn, Jessica Sergis, Lucy Lockhart, Sarah Walker and Med Warg will join 14 others for a camp on the Gold Coast next week.

The Jillaroos will then head to Port Moresby to take on the Orchids on September 23.

"This match is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the female game on the international stage," Jillaroos coach Brad Donald said.

"It's a really good mix of players from right across the country, so to have them come together for a week so close to the World Cup is great for our preparations for later in the year.

"A fair few from this squad have probably yet to experience playing in front of a packed crowd, let alone away from home and against a tough opponent like the PNG Orchids, so I'm eager to see how everyone handles themselves on the day."

JILLAROOS SQUAD: Kezie Apps, Chelsea Baker, Maddison Bennett, Annette Brander, Ali Brigginshaw, Vanessa Foliaki, Steph Hancock, Jenni-Sue Hoepper, Kody House, Amelia Kuk, Renae Kunst, Lucy Lockhart, Corban McGregor, Talesha Quinn, Jessica Sergis, Ruan Sims, Zahara Temara, Sarah Walker, Elianna Walton, Med Warg.
