Job vacancies up 2.1% in May

The number of public and private sector job vacancies rose by 2.1 per cent in May, a new quarterly survey by the ABS shows.

The number of jobs on offer for those looking for work has risen, new figures show.

There were 146,000 job vacancies in May, up 2.1 per cent from the number on offer in February.

The latest quarterly data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows the number of private sector job vacancies rose by two per cent to 135,000.

However the number of public sector vacancies jumped by 4.3 per cent to 11,200.

The survey is conducted every three months.
