Australia's Olympic chief John Coates is to head up two key commissions on the International Olympic Committee.
An IOC vice president, Coates has been appointed by IOC president Thomas Bach to succeed him as chair of the IOC juridical commission and the sport and law commission.
Coates has sat on the juridical commission since 2002.
He has also been re-appointed to the TV rights and new media commission.
In addition to his new posts, Coates remain a member of the coordination commission for Rio 2016 Olympic Games and chair of the coordination commission for the Tokyo 2020 Games.
He is also president of the International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS) and Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Fellow Australian Kevan Gosper is retiring from the IOC after 36 years but has been appointed a member of the IOC solidarity commission and will also remain an honorary member of the IOC press commission.
James Tomkins, a member of the IOC athletes commission, has been appointed to the IOC programme commission.
