US singer-songwriter John Mayer has been pictured smiling in the wake of his reported split from Katy Perry.
Mayer and Perry called it quits this week after dating on and off since 2012, according to Us Weekly.
The publication has now released a new image of Mayer surfacing for the first time since the news broke.
The photo shows the 36-year-old cracking a smile while out and about in New York City. The singer was dressed down in jeans, boots and a zip-up jacket.
Sources told usmagazine.com it was a "mutual" and "extremely amicable" decision and they just decided "it was the right time" to part.
News of the breakup came as a surprise and amid rumours Mayer had proposed after Perry was seen wearing a ring on her wedding finger.
Perry meanwhile does have something to celebrate. The singer revealed that she helped deliver a friend's baby on Wednesday.
"Finally you can add 'helps delivers babies in living rooms' to my resume," Perry tweeted.
"It's been a miracle of a day... Auntie Katy aka Stylist Auntie."
Perry will visit Australia next week to promote the Australian leg of her Prismatic World Tour in November.
