Jonathan Brown says he may not play on

Triple premiership player Jonathan Brown says he's unsure whether he will play on next AFL season.

Brisbane captain Jonathan Brown is non-committal on whether he has played his last AFL game.

Brown last weekend suffered a serious foot injury which has ruled him out for the rest of the season, and he faces a long rehabilitation to get over it.

But the 31-year-old is unsure whether he will play on next season.

"If I've played my last game, so be it. I can live with that," Brown told the Nine Network's AFL Footy Show.

"I just don't want to go out there and play for the sake of it, or play for the money. I want to go out there and still be able to contribute.

"I love playing the game but I respect the game immensely, and it's getting harder and harder.

"I've just got to weigh up those things over the next few weeks and come to the right conclusion."

Brown will see a surgeon next week once the swelling subsides to get a clearer picture on how the injury - a partial tear of the plantar fascia which run along the bottom of the foot - can be fixed.

The triple premiership player's contract expires at the end of this season.

But Lions coach Michael Voss says he wants Brown to play on in 2014.

Brown, who will be 32 by the start of next year, has played 245 games and kicked 573 goals.
