Jason Day fell away during the third round of the Deutsche Bank Championship, his chase of golf's No.1 ranking looks to last a little longer.
And while Day failed to fire another in-form Australian, Matt Jones put himself in with a chance of taking his second PGA Tour title on Monday (Tuesday AEST).
Jones, a winner at the Houston Open in 2014 has found himself in contention several times in recent months, including when he led at the halfway point of Jason Day's PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
Jones shot a three-under 68 to be 11-under for the tournament and two shots behind leader Henrik Stenson and one behind American Rickie Fowler.
Swede, Stenson shot a blistering and bogey free six-under 65, which included an eagle at the par-four fourth, he drove the green before holing a 20-footer.
Fowler a model of consistency this week, shot his third consecutive round of four-under with a 67 to be 12-under for the tournament.
Day began the third round six strokes behind second round leader Charley Hoffman, but shot a two-over-par 73 to find himself nine shots adrift of the lead and in a tie for 25th.
It was an opportunity missed for the Queenslander with world No.1 Rory McIlroy languishing near the bottom of the field and Jordan Spieth missing the cut.
