Josh Hazlewood keeps snaring key wickets

Josh Hazlewood has captured plenty of key wickets at clutch moments during this Ashes series.

HAZLEWOOD HAS BEEN AUSTRALIA'S KING OF THE KEY WICKETS THIS ASHES: *1st Test: Alastair Cook and Joe Root in England's 2nd inns Hazlewood, having played a single Sheffield Shield match since suffering a side strain, was below his best in the series opener but stepped up when the game was in the balance. Cook was out for seven, hooking a bouncer. Root reached 51 and looked capable of setting a tricky target for Australia. Hazlewood trapped the skipper lbw with a cracking delivery that moved late, setting the platform for a 1-0 series lead.

*2nd Test: Joe Root in England's 2nd inns There were expectations of an epic finish when both sides arrived at Adelaide Oval on day five. Hazlewood had other ideas, removing Chris Woakes and Root in quick succession during his opening spell. Root failed to add to his overnight score, undone by a hint of reverse-swing without adding to his overnight score of 67. England suffered a 120-run loss.

*3rd Test: Alastair Cook in England's 2nd inns Hazlewood again set the tone early, smothering England's hopes of a fightback by removing both of the tourists' openers in his opening spell. Cook fell for 14 when Hazlewood stuck out his right paw and held onto a sharp return catch. Hazlewood then sliced through England's middle order on day five, finishing the innings with figures of 5-48 as Australia reclaimed the urn.

*5th Test: Alastair Cook in England's 1st inns Cook picked up where he left off in Melbourne, having scored a record-breaking 244 not out on a flat pitch during the fourth Test. The opener negotiated Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc's opening spells with minimal fuss, and was well set on 39 when the beanpole struck. Umpire Joel Wilson turned down the lbw shout but Steve Smith's review handed Hazlewood the key scalp, snapping a 60-run partnership that had sapped Australia's momentum.
