Joy riders swipe Palmer's golf carts

Golf carts swiped from Clive Palmer's Queensland resort have been taken on a destructive joy ride, leaving three damaged and 10 wheelie bins worse for wear.

Joyriders have swiped three golf carts from Clive Palmer's resort, sideswiping three cars and skittling 10 wheelie bins in the process.

Police say the carts made a pit stop at a skate park after they were taken from the federal MP's resort at Coolum.

At least one of the thieves embarked on a lengthy journey. He was arrested about 20km away at Noosa, with the damaged cart found by the roadside.

Police said all three carts have since been recovered, but only one man is in custody.

Investigations are continuing.
