A mother and daughter were reunited two months after their separation at the US border by President Donald Trump's 'zero-tolerance' immigration policy.

Buena Ventura Martin Godinez broke into tears as she hugged her seven-year-old daughter at Miami airport on Sunday.

Children have been separated from their families seeking refuge in the US under President Trump's zero-tolerance policy, as a means to discourage illegal immigration.

Ms Godinez warned other migrants of the "very tough" laws at the US border.

"I would advise people to find another country to seek refuge," she told AP.

"Because here, the law is very tough, people don't have a heart. Your child is a treasure and to have them separated is very painful, they are God's blessing."
