Jump in Vic meningococcal cases

So far this year, 13 Victorians have contracted meningococcal disease, compared with 17 cases in all of 2015.

An alert has been issued over a jump in invasive meningococcal disease cases in Victoria.

So far 13 people have contracted the disease this year, compared with 17 cases for all of 2015 and four the year before that.

The most common symptoms have been those associated with severe sepsis, and vaccines are available on private script.
