Inter Milan has ended speculation over Fredy Guarin's future by tying the Colombian forward to a new contract which expires in 2017.
Guarin was the subject of a proposed swap deal involving Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic during the winter transfer window but the deal fell through at the 11th hour when Inter pulled out.
Guarin joined Inter on loan from FC Porto in January 2012 and signed a permanent deal with the Nerazzurri at the end of that season that would have expired in 2016.
The Colombia international says he is delighted to have extended his deal by a year.
"I'm living my dream and I'm happy to be able to continue being a part of this squad," Guarin told Inter Channel.
"Two years have already passed since I arrived here and so far it's been a very positive experience."
Inter, who missed out on Europe this season, sit sixth in Serie A on the same points as Parma, who occupy fifth spot and the first available Europa League qualifying place.
