Kaiser Chiefs turned down World Cup anthem

The Kaiser Chiefs have revealed they turned down an opportunity to record an anthem for the 2006 soccer World Cup.

British rockers Kaiser Chiefs turned down the chance to record an official song for England's 2006 World Cup campaign.

The group's singer, Ricky Wilson, has revealed they were asked to write and record a special song to support the England team at the tournament in Germany, but turned down the opportunity.

Wilson admits he regrets snubbing the offer.

"We were asked to do a World Cup song but we said no," he tells Britain's The Sun newspaper.

"We said we didn't have the time.

"But you can make some time for something like that.

"When the World Cup was on, we were all sitting in the pub going, `We could have been doing this'."

England's 2006 World Cup song, World At Your Feet, was recorded by Embrace.
