Karrie Webb's dream of playing in golf's return to the Olympics is suddenly under threat.
Hall of Famer Webb and teenager Minjee Lee have long appeared to have the two Australian women's golf team berths locked up.
But Su Oh's charge to finish runner-up at the LPGA Tour's Kingsmill Championship on Monday (AEDT) has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons.
Oh, who turned 20 on Monday, has rocketed 104 placings up the world rankings following that second placing and is now No.61.
That's just 13 spots behind No.48 Webb, who has struggled to post any really strong results since her third at the Australian Women's Open in February.
Seven-times major champion Webb, 41, has continued to play a full schedule in recent seasons, rather than cutting back, because she so wants to go to the Olympics.
But she now has a battle on her hands to stay ahead of Oh at the cut-off date on June 11, the day after the Women's US Open.
Lee almost certainly has one spot wrapped up as she is at world No.12, having won on the LPGA Tour.
Oh is playing a full schedule of the events up to and including the Women's US Open and, as an LPGA Tour rookie, she has no rankings points to defend.
The battle for the second men's spot is also well and truly on after Adam Scott and Marc Leishman both ruled out teaming with world No.1 Jason Day in Rio.
Marcus Fraser is next in line at No.68 but only 13 places ahead of Matt Jones, while Scott Hend is a further four spots away.
