An apologetic Katrina Grant has received a suspended two-match ban for misconduct after a trans-Tasman netball league disciplinary hearing.
The Silver Ferns defender and Central Pulse captain on Wednesday became the first player to face a disciplinary hearing in the competition's eight-year history.
She was referred for alleged misconduct 10 days after her team drew 55-55 with Southern Steel.
Post-match television footage showed Grant speaking heatedly with match referee Jono Bredin.
The Trans Tasman Netball League, the ANZ Championship organisers, said Grant has been warned about her future conduct.
She was issued with a two-match suspended ban which will be brought to account if she is found guilty of misconduct again in the next 12 months.
Grant's exemplary playing record, no applicable prior disciplinary record and clear remorse was taken into consideration, a TTNL statement said on Thursday.
The 28-year-old said she had written to Bredin to apologise.
"My behaviour was unacceptable. I allowed my emotions and the significance of the game to get the better of me," she said.
"It's been a tough few days for everyone and I'm just glad I can put it behind me now."
It's the second time in a week that the league has issued a disciplinary notice.
Tactix coach Sue Hawkins was reprimanded last week for televised complaints about the umpiring during her team's 68-49 loss to the NSW Swifts.
A former Australian international who coached England for four years until 2011, Hawkins pleaded guilty to breaching the ANZ Championship's code of conduct.
