Katter's Australian Party says it has pressed its demand for mandated ethanol in fuel in talks with Queensland's minority Labor government.
KAP's two Queensland MPs are looming as potential kingmakers in the state parliament after Billy Gordon's resignation from the Labor Party following allegations of domestic abuse and revelations about his criminal history.
But he hasn't resigned from the parliament.
Rob Katter says his party is keen to "ruthlessly" seize the opportunity to champion its regional interests, including the establishment of an ethanol industry.
"We've already had some progressive discussions about the ethanol industry," he told the ABC on Sunday.
He also said the two KAP MPs were willing to co-operate with Annastacia Palaszczuk's government on good legislation to keep the parliament functioning.
"We are not there to be spoilers and disrupt things," he said.
Meanwhile, the Mount Isa MP said he was "a little bit sick" of hearing about the Gordon saga.
He said the Cook MP shouldn't be pre-emptively judged in a trial by media.
"I think a large percentage of this issue is party games we are not too interested in," Mr Katter said.
