Australian surfer Keely Andrew has fallen just short of claiming a maiden world tour title at the Trestles Pro in California.
Andrew was beaten in the final by Brazil's Silvana Lima, who shredded her way to victory in small conditions by delivering rides of 8.93 and 8.67 to combo the 22-year-old Queenslander in the final.
Lima, two years Andrew's senior had not won on tour since 2010 and her experience showed with her wave selection in the final.
Indeed Andrew might have been lucky just to be there, leaving it until the last ride of her semi-final to defeat American Courtney Conlogue.
With just two minutes remaining, Andrew found a nice right-hander that she got the most out of to score an 8.10 and scupper Conlogue's chances of claiming the leader's yellow jersey from Tyler Wright.
The person who has it now is fellow Aussie Sally Fitzgibbons, who overtook Wright after the defending world champion was knocked out in the fourth round.
Conlogue is second in the standings with Wright third and fellow Australian Stephanie Gilmore in fourth.
