Justice Minister Michael Keenan will travel to Thailand and Malaysia amid concerns about the growing influence of extremism in Southeast Asia.

One week after Indonesia's capital Jakarta was targeted by Islamic State, Mr Keenan will head to the region to attend an international conference on deradicalisation and countering violent extremism.

Mr Keenan said in a statement on Wednesday the government was concerned about the growing influence of IS in the region and had been working with regional allies to combat the threat.
