Key government positions in new parliament

The Liberal and National party rooms have made a number of appointments to key parliamentary positions at their first meetings since the election.

* Christian Porter becomes Leader of the House

* Bert van Manen becomes chief government whip

* Rowan Ramsey retains deputy whip

* Nicolle Flint also becomes deputy whip

* Damien Drum retains Nationals whip

* Ken O'Dowd retains deputy Nationals whip
