Key players agree to meet in Belarus for Ukraine peace talks

The leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France are aiming to meet to continue discussing a peace plan for eastern Ukraine.

The leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France are aiming to meet to continue discussing a peace plan for eastern Ukraine.

The meeting is to be held in the Belarus capital, Minsk, on Wednesday.

It follows telephone conversations between the leaders of the four countries about the ongoing conflict over the weekend.

More than 5,000 people have been killed by fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russia rebels since April 2014.

Western countries accuse Russia of arming the rebels and sending troops to Ukraine - claims Russia denies.
